East Los Angeles born band Las Cafeteras are prolific purveyors of folk music, infused with spoken word, son jarocho. The band’s approach to regional Mexican music has made them one of the most in demand Chicano bands in Greater Los Angeles. The band comprises Daniel French, David Flores, Denise Carlos, Jose Cano, Hector Flores, and Leah Gallegos. Las Cafeteras released their debut album It’s Time in 2012, followed by their latest album Tastes Like L.A. The band explores themes on immigration reform, female homicides in Juarez, Mexico, and civil rights movements among others.
