Joe Hisaishi: Master of Cinematic style

Many can recognize the opening notes of a Joe Hisaishi score immediately and be sent straight back to a time and place in their lives. As the long time collaborator of Academy Award winning director Hayao Miyazaki, Joe Hisaishi is renowned for creating some of the most iconic film scores of all time. This concert will feature iconic scores from some of Studio Ghibli's most beloved films such as Away, My Neighbor Totoro, Princess Mononoke and Howl's Moving Castle all performed live. In 2023, Joe Hisaishi produced a new album "A Symphonic Celebration: Music from the Studio Ghibli Films of Hayao Miyazaki" with new orchestral arrangements of classic timeless pieces from the Studio Ghibli films as well as new tracks from the score to the Academy Award winning 2023 film The Boy and the Heron by Miyazaki and Hisaishi. A Joe Hisaishi show is not to be missed. The renowned composer has penned more than 100 film scores and released more than 30 solo albums. He has received four Japanese Academy Awards for Best Music and has conducted all of the major Orchestras in the United States, performing beloved classics such as 'One Summer's Day' from Spirited Away, 'The Path of the Wind' from My Neighbor Totoro and many more timeless other films.

Parking Information

There is limited parking available at the John Anson Ford Amphitheater for guests with cars. However, there are many street parking locations and private parking lots throughout the Hollywood area, a short walk from the venue. Many of the street parking locations in the Hollywood area are metered and must be paid and displayed by the posted time to avoid receiving a parking citation and being towed. Some of the off-site parking lots that are a short walk from the venue are also paid lots. Plan to arrive at the venue a little early to allow time to find and walk to the venue before the start of the show.
