The Bajo La Luna directly translates to “under the moon,” which makes it a perfect name for the upcoming event taking place at The Ford. This year’s Bajo La Luna will be taking place in the one and only world-renowned John Anson Ford Amphitheatre, also known colloquially as The Ford. The goal of Bajo La Luna is to bring together artists from the Iberian Peninsula and Latin America to celebrate the rich culture and diversity within those parts of the world. Three main artists will be taking the stage “under the moon” for this year’s Bajo La Luna, including Silvia Perez Cruz from Spain, La Muchacha from Colombia, and Y La Madrigal from Mexico and the United States. The Bajo La Luna is quickly becoming one of the most highly anticipated events taking place at The Ford this season. On August 31st, get a chance to spend an entire evening soaking up the moonlight and experiencing live music performed by some of the biggest rising stars in Latin music. While it would be near impossible to represent every ethnic group and country that make up Latin America and the Iberian Peninsula, this year’s lineup is pretty well-rounded.
The first to take the stage at the notoriously famous Los Angeles venue, The Ford, is none other than Silvia Perez Cruz. Hailing from Palafrugell, Spain, the singer slash composer is world-renowned for her singing voice and lyricism, both of which have earned her many accolades in her home country. Tagging alongside her, Colombia’s own La Muchacha will also be hitting the stage at the Bajo La Luna.
La Muchacha’s determination to keep things authentic and to use her voice to empower herself alongside her community is a sight to behold. And finally, there will also be a performance by Y La Madrigal, Luz Elena Mendoza’s newest project. Mendoza is the creative brainpower behind Y La Bamba, but this new band is unleashing an all-new energy.
